5 Ways to Stay Positive at Home

High School Musical said it best... we're all in this together.

1. First Things First, SMILE.

In the midst of what seems chaos around the world, choose to be positive! Perspective is so important. The way we view our circumstances can effect our mood and even outcomes. I challenge all of you reading to think of 3 things you’re thankful for each day. These little decisions to remain positive will go a long way. Above all, let’s all choose to be positive this season!

2. Stay Cozy...but keep it Fashion

Since we are all at home for the foreseeable future (thanks COVID-19), you may as well rack up on those lounge sets. No one wants to sit at home uncomfortable…or anywhere for that matter. When you look good, you feel good. Anyone else feel more productive too?? If i'm feeling my outfit, I am way more motivated! Just another small way to boost your spirits and remain positive. 3. Binge-Worthy Shows/Movies

This is basically stay-at-home 101! A good Netflix series is essential in not losing your sanity on those long days inside. Here are a few favorite and totally binge worthy shows…

  1. Outer Banks – (SO GOOD. There’s only 1 season, so it’s any easy binge. Season 2 PLS HURRY)

  2. Happy Merry Whatever – (Light, funny and easy to watch)

  3. All American - (All the drama, and football!)

  4. Love is Blind - (Yes, jump on the crazy trend)

  5. The Crown

  6. Riverdale

  7. Schitt’s Creek

  8. Suits – (This one has tons of seasons and will definitely hook you)

4. Comfort food.

This.. this is the one. If you know me, you know I am the biggest foodie. Nothing makes this girl happier than a plate of chicken wings or a box of a dozen donuts. No shame here. Treat-yo-self by grabbing your favorite cookbook and whipping up some delicious goodies. I also love to get creative with my drinks! Whether thats a new cocktail or fruit infused detox water… now’s the time to try it!

If you happen to feel under the weather, try the recipe listed below! Similarly, this is an at-home way to make Starbucks famous “Medicine Ball” tea.


  • 3/4 cup water

  • 3/4 cup lemonade

  • Citrus mint tea bag (1) (such as Tazo Zen or Teavana Jade Citrus Mint™ Green Tea)

  • Peach-flavored tea bag (1) (such as Celestial Seasonings Country Peach Passion)

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • A drop peppermint extract (optional)

  • Lemon slices, for serving


  1. First, bring the water and lemonade to a simmer in a small saucepan. Remove from the heat and add the tea bags. Cover and steep for 3 minutes.

  2. Discard the tea bags, add the honey, and stir until dissolved. Add peppermint extract, if desired. Finally, divide the tea between 2 mugs and serve immediately with a thin slice of lemon.

5. Get outside, fuel your body.

Most importantly, fresh air and a change of scenery are great ways to remain positive. You’ll be surprised how staying active and getting that heart rate pumping can effect your mood! Recently, fitness has become the greatest change in my life. I used to workout for others approval or the simple boost of pride by stating “psh…duh I worked out today”. Now, it’s my escape. My way of putting myself first. Knowing I am working on nothing but myself and my strength has become addicting. My mindset has changed from “I have to” to “I get to”. While majority of the world seems stuck, never underestimate the simple pleasure of being able to get outside and work on yourself.
